4. The Sad Stories when the Holy Spirit was stopped at IHOPKC

4. Examining the Sad Stories when the Holy Spirit was stopped, because of the lack of Divine Order at IHOPKC.

Since there were few ordained pastors, someone developed the Section Leader role to do the ministry of a pastor without the anointing, calling or gifting. These leaders were assigned shifts to “help” the worship teams keep the 24/7 prayer going – no matter how unanointed.

The rules were that all Worship Leaders and Section Leaders were to follow a tight but easy transition to another team every two hours. No Worship Leader should listen to the Holy Spirit about timing and direction to see something happen in the Prayer Room. This style of NOT following the Holy Spirit became the Rule and the Normal pattern in the Prayer Room.

This tight (clock-driven) style of controlling the worship teams is practiced throughout the 21st Century Church. The Holy Spirit and the worship team leaders are given a specific amount of time to do their work, then the clock on the wall starts counting forward in RED. Time to stop, no matter what God wants. Of course, the main leaders would graciously give a little leeway on the clock – just a little.

Jack Hayford taught all of us young pastors that WE were in authority from the beginning of the meeting until the end. We were to be sensitive to what the Holy Spirit was doing and NEVER LET THE CLOCK rule us.

When only a few supernatural manifestations occur in normal meetings, it is normal for everyone to start NOT expecting God to do a lot in the meetings. But that is not what God wants. This is one of the answers to the questions, “Why so much prayer and worship, but God did not show up very much?” In the side room, some of the teams were seeing miracles every week, because they allowed the Holy Spirit to do what He wanted to do – NO CLOCK. But not the main meeting.

THE SADEST RESULT OF HAVING NO DIVINE ORDER

This is the saddest thing I observe in many churches. The people come hungry and needy and during the worship service, God begins to meet their hearts. Some start to cry, and others lift their hands as God begins to move to meet their needs.

Then a young man or women gets up and says something that they have been told to say. The clock on the wall has stopped God once again. The Holy Spirit will not force himself upon anyone.

The IHOPKC prayer room was forced to follow this pattern every two hours. Since there were few seasoned and anointed leaders to direct and lead the prayer meetings, MAN MADE RULES had to keep the Order, not Divine Order. Expectations lowered as everyone knew that God wasn’t going to be allowed to disrupt the meetings.

HERE IS WHAT I HAVE SEEN (not heard about) WHEN GOD IS ALLOWED TO MOVE.

My wife had a major healing (verified by her doctor) when a Worship Leader decided to break the rule of following Man’s restraints and continued past the time that that they were supposed to stop worshipping.

The clock on the wall started counting forward, in RED and the leader said, “let us continue….” Within the next few minutes, I looked at my wife, who had NOT been able to lift her arm due to a severe broken shoulder. She looked at me and said, “God has healed me,” as she raised her arm straight up. I am so thankful (my wife is too) for the courage of this worship leader. Yes, it took courage for leaders to follow the Holy Spirit at IHOPKC.

This also happened in the IHOPKC Prayer Room which was under strong control of the clock. I had a conversation with the next worship leader. I told him to except something, because God was moving in a special way. When this young man got to the 2-hour mark, God was doing something and no one in the room wanted to stop. He did not STOP but followed the Holy Spirit and continued.

Within 30 minutes the prayer room filled up with people running to it. IHOPKC people were always hungry for God but discouraged by their leaders. On this set it continued for over another hour.  People were crying and being deeply met by God. Many were lying flat on the floor, being met by God. Since there were few Ephesians 4:11 seasoned ministries allowed to have authority in the Prayer Room, the set finally ended. No one knew what had happened or why it had happened. They were just happy that God had showed up.

A sad story of hungry people seeking God in an organization that was stopping God from moving for the sake of their reputation of continual prayer – even though they were NOT doing God’s will in their continual prayer. This bragging about not stopping was stated so many times by those who were unaware of spiritual things. The SAD story of IHOPKC.

Take faith. Follow New Testament Divine Order and hunger for God and the Holy Spirit will ALWAYS SHOW UP.  And supernatural manifestations will happen. Also find groups that have seasoned anointed multiple Elderships in the New Testament Pattern.

God wants to move supernaturally.

AND GOD WILL MOVE IF WE ARE HUNGRY AND SEEKING HIM.
